The 2018/19 Awards Presentation Ceremony for Service Excellence and Service Quality Award Scheme was held at the Police Headquarters on May 23. The event marked the presentation of awards and souvenirs to officers for their service excellence, as well as the launch of the revitalised Police Staff Suggestions Scheme (PSSS).
Officiating at the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Ping-keung thanked the awardees for their efforts and contribution, and praised their creativity, innovation and active participation in enhancing the quality of Police service.
Mr Tang stressed, "The ultimate goal of organising the schemes is to enhance our professionalism and service quality. Every Force member has to contribute to further enhance our performance and effectiveness."
Service Quality Award Scheme 2018
The Service Quality Award (SQA) Scheme 2018 comprised five categories, namely General Public Service, Specialised Service, Internal Service, Regulatory/Enforcement Service, and Crisis/Incident Support Service. A total of 35 entries were received. The Gold Award winner of each category was invited to compete for the newly-added Best Presentation Award. Each of the five Gold Award winning teams presented their projects at the ceremony, and the audience was invited to select the winner of the Best Presentation Award via the Efficiency Office's online platform.
Of the 262 votes cast by the audience, the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB)'s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre received the highest number of votes of 115 and won the Best Presentation Award.
Revitalisation of Police Staff Suggestions Scheme (PSSS)
The PSSS was set up in 1994 to encourage staff to submit suggestions for improving or streamlining operational and management workflows so as to enhance service quality and the efficiency of the Force.
To provide more opportunities for officers and to better develop their potential, the Service Quality Wing (SQW) revitalised the PSSS in early 2019 by introducing the category of Fully Researched Proposal as well as a Diamond Award. The PSSS webpage has been revamped to streamline the submission process and strengthen information sharing with an enhanced search engine. The webpage has been modernised and has become more user-friendly.
Officers can make submissions via the PSSS icon on the Departmental Portal, the PSSS hexagon icon on the Police Intranet (POINT) main page, and SQW's PSSS webpage.
At the ceremony, two Gold Awards, one Silver Award, three Bronze Awards and eight Merit Awards were presented to officers who put forward a total of 14 suggestions.
