Appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau
Police today (August 22) appealed to members of the public for information on a traffic accident in which a 24-year-old man died in Lok Ma Chau today.
At about 4.30am, a light goods vehicle was travelling along Castle Peak Road heading towards Yuen Long while a private car was travelling on the opposite direction towards Lok Ma Chau. When reaching near Mai Po San Tsuen, the two vehicles had a head-on collision.
After the impact, the 24-year-old private car driver was trapped inside the compartment and sustained serious injuries. He was released by firemen and sent to the North District Hospital where he was certified dead at 5.37am. The light goods vehicle's 33-year-old male driver and a 23-year-old female passenger were also injured during the accident. They were also sent to the North District Hospital.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
