Fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 15-year-old boy was killed and another 15-year-old boy was injured in Sheung Shui tonight (July 25).

At about 8 pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 52-year-old man was travelling along the second lane on Jockey Club Road towards Sheung Shui. When reaching near Ling Shan Road, it reportedly knocked down a 15-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle crossing the road with another 15-year-old boy on board.

Sustaining serious injuries, both boys were rushed to North District Hospital where the boy who rode the bicycle was certified dead at 8.21 pm.

The driver of the PLB was later arrested for drink driving and dangerous driving causing death.

Investigations have been taken over by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
