To encourage children of police officers to broaden their horizon by exploring the world outside Hong Kong, the Mainland and Overseas Summer Course Sponsorship Scheme now offers sponsorship for officers’ children to attend summer courses in the Mainland or overseas. The scheme is now open for application by officers at ranks of senior superintendent or below. The maximum amounts of sponsorship are as follows:

*The amount of sponsorship for each application may be adjusted across-the-board downwards depending on the number of applicants and the budget of that year.

Interested officers should note the following Terms and Conditions:

Qualification for application

1. The applicant should be a serving police officer. The child should be either blood related or legally adopted and has not been sponsored under this Scheme previously. If both parents are police officers, the application form should be submitted by one of them only.

2. The child should be aged between 12 and 21, i.e. born between June 1, 2002 and May 31, 2011 (both dates inclusive) on June 1, 2023.

3. The applicant can make his/her choice for a summer course to be held in the Mainland or overseas (excluding those held in Macao and Taiwan) for the child, subject to endorsement by the Force. However, the course should be held by reputable institutions/organisations between June and August. No sponsorship will be awarded for general sightseeing tours or regular school programmes.

4. For matters of dispute, the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch (PSSRB) has the right to the final decision.

Application procedures

Applicants should submit the application form available on the Force Noticeboard or website of PSSRB, together with photocopies of the following supporting documents:

□ The child’s Birth Certificate

□ The child’s school report of academic year 2021-2022 (including the second term)

□ Details of the summer course

□ Confirmation of enrolment to the course

□ Payment receipt of the course

Other information

Successful applicants will be notified by email on or before August 14, 2023. They should collect the sponsorship cheque in person at PSSRB located on 38th floor of Arsenal House at the designated time. Applicants who are unable to collect the cheque in person may authorise another person to collect it by completing the authorisation form attached in the email. The authorised person should present the original of the duly completed authorisation form upon collection of the sponsorship cheque. Should the child of the successful applicant be absent from the relevant course and the reason of absence is not accepted by the Force, full amount of sponsorship shall be repaid. On returning to Hong Kong, the participants may be invited to assist in future events related to the scheme.
