In the morning of April 13, whilst conducting anti-terrorism patrols at Admiralty MTR station, officers of Counter Terrorism Response Unit (CTRU) encountered a woman and a domestic helper supporting an old woman who appeared to be walking shakily. Rendering assistance to her immediately, the officers learnt that the old woman was a physically weak patient recovering from cancer. Her daughter and helper were taking her to the clinic nearby for consultation.

After recognising the situation, the team head of CTRU arranged for some members to go on with the patrol while the others would help the old woman. As there was a distance between the scene of the incident and her destination, the officers borrowed a stool from the staff at a bus terminus nearby for her to take a short rest. They also listened patiently to her for what she needed, and helped her go to the clinic.

The daughter felt much gratitude to the officers’ assistance. She wrote an appreciation letter afterwards to praise the performance of the officers. In addition to their specific duty to address terrorist attacks, CTRU officers also pay attention to the needs of vulnerable groups and provide appropriate assistance when performing day-to-day duties of the Force. Every officer serves the community with professionalism and empathy, regardless of the magnitude of the case.
