Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yuen Yuk-kin officiated at the opening ceremony of the New Generation Report Room (NGRR) of the Kwun Tong Police Station on October 12. He toured the new facilities in the company of Regional Commander of Kowloon East Lui Kam-ho and District Commander of Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) Angus Pullinger. Also attending the opening ceremony included District Officer (Kwun Tong) Mr Tse Ling-chun, Chairman of Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee Mr Lo Yan-lai, and Acting Chief Superintendent of the Planning and Development Branch Lam Yuk-ying.

The NGRR provides a higher degree of privacy and security through its design features and modernisation, which include an e-cell check and e-alert system, an e-locker system, a closed-circuit television system in detention cells, a padded temporary holding area and a padded detention cell, as well as semi-enclosed reporting booths. The reception counter is also equipped with an electronic queuing system as well as an induction loop system for the hearing impaired to optimise the service provided to the community.
