Taxi-driver dies in Sau Mau Ping accident
Police today (December 5) appealed for information about a traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping in which two men were injured and one of them subsequently died in hospital.
Shortly after 4.40am today, a taxi driven by a 48-year-old man was travelling along Hiu Kwong Street towards Sau Mau Ping Road. Near a petrol filling station, the taxi hit a 56-year-old taxi-driver who was standing near the rear part of a taxi parked at the roadside. The stationary taxi was pushed forward and rammed into a 51-year-old taxi-driver who was standing at the front.
The duo, who sustained leg injuries, were taken for medical treatment to United Christian Hospital, where the 56-year-old man was certified dead at 10am.
The 48-year-old taxi-driver was arrested for drink driving. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Kowloon East, are proceeding.
