Two men arrested for smuggling $6.4 million contraband goods
Marine Police arrested two men and seized some $6.4 million contraband goods near Pak Mong in Lantau North yesterday (August 29).
At about 6.30 pm on August 29, Marine Police Regional Task Force mounted an anti-smuggling operation and spotted some speedboats near Pak Mong where boxes of cargoes were unloading from three medium goods vehicles to the speedboats. After off loading, one of the vehicles left and officers kept watching the vehicles and the speedboats. Officers later intercepted two males at the two vehicles while other people had jumped into an unknown speedboat and fled away to the Mainland.
Marine Police has seized two medium goods vehicles with 294 boxes of cargoes containing contraband computer hard-disc and live turtles.
The two males, aged 30 and 32, were arrested for assisting in exporting unmanifest cargo and will be detained for further enquiries.
