Forty-four people netted in Operation Levington

Police together with officers of Customs and Excise (C&E) Deparment and Immigration Department mounted an anti-crime operation codenamed "Levington" between midnight on August 17 and 3 am on August 19 in Mong Kok district, resulting in the arrest of 44 persons.

Crime officers of Mong Kok Districts including District Special Duty Squad, District Anti-triad Squad, Distict Crime Squad, Task Force and officers of C&E and Immigration Departments were mobilised to raid various locations in the district.

As a result, a total of 12 men and 32 women aged between 17 and 67 were apprehended for offences including possession of dangerous drugs, trafficking in dangerous drugs, possession of obscene articles for the purpose of publication, operating an unlawful gambling establishment, gambling in a gambling establishment, managing a vice establishment, breach of condition of stay, illegal immigration and breaching the trademark offences, etc.

Police also seized about 5,400 pieces of counterfeit brandname leather product, about 3,200 pieces of counterfeit brandname watches, 24 pieces of counterfeit brandname accessories, about 41,600 pieces of obscene Digital Video Disc, six packets of suspected Ice, one packet of suspected cocaine, two packets of suspected Ketamine, one packet of suspected cannabis and 68 packets of suspected Heroin No. 4 during the operation. Meanwhile, Police had seized 20 vice signboards in the operation.

A Police spokesman reiterates that Police is determined to combat all triad-related crimes and would continue to conduct similar operations in a bid to eradicate such illegal activities.
