Special traffic arrangements for Flag Raising Ceremony
The Police will implement special traffic arrangements in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) Phase II in Wan Chai from June 29 to July 1 to facilitate the rehearsal and holding of the Flag Raising Ceremony for the Tenth Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
(A) Traffic arrangements for the rehearsal on June 29
The rehearsal on June 29 will be held from 9 am to 12.30 pm.
During the rehearsal, traffic on eastbound Expo Drive will be held up intermittently at the time when the parade is marching in and out of the Golden Bauhinia Square of the HKCEC Phase II.
From noon on June 29 until the conclusion of the fireworks display at about 10 pm on July 1, the bus terminus, on-street parking for coaches and taxi stands on Expo Drive East will be suspended. Buses that originally stop at the bus terminus on Expo Drive East will be relocated to the bus terminus outside Great Eagle Centre.
(B) Traffic arrangements for the rehearsal on June 30
The rehearsal on June 30 will be held from 7 am to 12.30 pm.
During the rehearsal, traffic on eastbound Expo Drive will be held up intermittently at the time when the parade is marching in and out of the Golden Bauhinia Square of the HKCEC Phase II.
In addition, Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central and Expo Drive East will be closed and only vehicles with special entry permit can access to the closed roads.
From noon on June 30 to noon on July 1, the following road diversions will be implemented:
(i) Traffic along northbound Fleming Road heading Expo Drive East will not be permitted;
(ii) Traffic along westbound Convention Avenue will be prohibited from turning right onto Expo Drive; and
(iii) Traffic along eastbound Convention Avenue will be prohibited from turning left onto Expo Drive.
(C) Traffic arrangements for the Flag Raising Ceremony on July 1
Between 7 am and 11 am on July 1, the following roads will be closed:
(i) A section of the leftmost lane of westbound Harbour Road between Harbour Drive and Fleming Road; and
(ii) The leftmost lane of Harbour Drive.
Between 7 am and noon on July 1, vehicles going out of the exit of Tamar Site on northbound Tim Mei Avenue will be facilitated to make a right turn into eastbound Lung Wui Road.
Taxi and public light bus (PLB) stands at the following locations will be suspended from 6 am to noon on July 1:
(i) The taxi stand adjacent to Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus;
(ii) The PLB stand adjacent to Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus; and
(iii) The taxi stand on westbound Harbour Road near Fleming Road.
Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow the instruction of Traffic Police at scene.
