Fatal traffic accident in Tseung Kwan O

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a seven-year-old boy was killed in Tseung Kwan O this afternoon (May 6).

Shortly before 1.35 pm, a private car was travelling along Choi Ming Street. Upon reaching at the roundabout outside Choi Fu House of Choi Ming Court, it reportedly knocked down the boy who was cycling along the road.

Sustaining serious head injuries, the boy was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where he was certified dead at 1.58 pm.

The driver of the private car left the scene after the accident. A 37-year-old man later returned and claimed to be the driver. After Police enquiries, the man was arrested for perverting the course of justice.

He is still being detained for enquiries.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway.
