Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 51-year-old man was killed and a 39-year-old man injured in Sha Tin tonight (March 7).
Shortly before 6.15 pm, two motorcycles were travelling along the first and the second carriageway of Kowloon bound Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Heights section) respectively.
While approaching Luk Hop Village, the motorcycle on the first lane was reportedly lost control and ran across the opposite carriageway and collided with a private car.
After the impact, the 51-year-old motorcyclist was then hit by a coming light goods vehicle. The other motorcycle travelling on the second lane of Kowloon bound Tai Po Road lost control and fell down, leaving the 39-year-old male motorcyclist injured.
Sustaining injuries, both the injured persons were rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital where the 51-year-old man was certified dead at 6.48 pm.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
