Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

Police appealed for information on a traffic accident occurred in Tsing Yi this (January 21) afternoon in which a 82-year-old woman was killed.

Shortly after 5.35 pm, a private car driven by a 43-year-old man travelling along a service road near the market at Cheung Hong Estate Commercial Centre made a right turn and reportedly knocked down a woman standing there.

After the accident, the 82-year-old woman was trapped under the vehicle and rescued later. She was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where she was certified dead at 6.37 pm.

The 43-year-old private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

Investigations will be taken over by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South.
