Tsing Yi traffic accident claims two lives
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi early this (January 17) morning in which a 30-year-old truck driver and his 30-year-old male passenger were killed.
At about 2.30 am, a medium good vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man was travelling along Tsuen Wan Bound of Tsing Tsuen Road. On reaching outside Maritime square, it first lost control and rammed into the iron railing. The vehicle continued to move forward and finally crashed onto a sign gantry at the central divider near Riviera Gardens.
After the impact, the 30-year-old male passenger was thrown out from the vehicle and was later certified dead at scene by ambulance crew. The driver was trapped inside the compartment and sustained serious injuries. He was rescued by firemen and sent to the Yan Chai Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.20am.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
