Fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which an elderly man was killed in Sau Mau Ping this morning (October 17).
Shortly before 11 am, a light goods vehicle driven by a 31-year-old man was travelling along northbound Luen On Street. When it reached near Yee On Street, it reportedly knocked down an elderly man who was crossing the road.
After the impact, the man was trapped under the vehicle and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to the United Christian Hospital where he was certified dead at 11.21 am.
Police found no identity document on the deceased. He was aged about 60 to 70, about 1.6 meters tall, of medium build, with short white hair and was wearing a pair of golden-frame glasses. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt, beige-coloured vest, blue jeans and a pair of sandals in light brown colour at the time of the accident.
The case has been taken over by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East for investigation.
