Man charged with dangerous driving causing death

Police today (September 19) charged a 46-year-old man with dangerous driving causing death and other offences following a traffic accident yesterday (September 18) in Mong Kok in which a rubbish truck driven by the man knocked down a 50-year-old woman who subsequently died at scene.

The traffic accident occurred at about 7.10 am yesterday when the rubbish truck was reversing along Soy Street and turned right into Tak Cheong Street.

The 46-year-old driver was also charged with one count each of driving while disqualified, driving a motor vehicle without third party insurance and using a vehicle not in a good and serviceable condition.

He will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 20).
