Men arrested for $7.4 million robbery in Sheung Shui

Police yesterday (September 18) arrested two men in connection with a robbery in which about $7.4 million worth of computer monitor panels and four medium goods vehicle were stolen in Sheung Shui on September 17.

Shortly after 9 am on September 17, a 26-year-old male owner of a warehouse made a report that the lock of his warehouse on Lung Yeuk Tau Section of Sha Tau Kok Road was prized open. The man also found three staff members including two men and a woman aged between 31 and 37 being tied up inside the warehouse.

Police initial enquiries revealed that a total of about 9,500 pieces of computer monitor panels and four medium goods vehicles worth a total of about $7.4 million were reported missing.

Officers of District Crime Squad (DCS), Tai Po took over the case for investigations.

After extensive investigations, officers located three of the stolen medium goods vehicles on Pok Wai South Road near Kam Tin River in Yuen Long at about 5.30 pm on September 17.

Most of the stolen computer monitor panels were later recovered in a container depot on Tin Ha Road in Lau Fau Shan and in a refuse disposal area on Sha Tau Kok Road near Loi Tung at noon and at about 9 pm yesterday respectively.

Police follow-up enquiries led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man in a residential unit in Tin Yiu Estate, Tin Shui Wai at about 6.30 pm yesterday. A 45-year-old man was later arrested in another residential unit in the same estate at about 12.30 am today.

The arrested persons are still being detained for enquiries.
