Fatal traffic accident in Western
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 26-year-old man was killed in Western early this (September 18) morning.
At about 2.40am, Police received a report that a light goods vehicle (LGV) fell into the sea off Kennedy Town New Praya. Upon receiving the call, Police officers were immediately deployed to the scene to investigate.
After initial enquiries, it was revealed that the LGV was travelling along northbound carriageway of Davis Street at the time of the incident. It then reportedly hit a railing and fell into the sea.
The 26-year-old driver was trapped inside the compartment after the impact and was rescued by the firemen. He was rushed to the Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.47am.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
