No tolerance to acts of violence against rule of law
Police attach great importance to the wounding case in which the Hon Albert Ho Chun-yan was attacked in a fast food restaurant in Central yesterday (August 20).
A spokesman for the Police reiterated today (August 21) that the Police would conduct investigation in full swing to track down the culprits and any mastermind involved for early detection of the case.
At about 5.20 pm yesterday, while Mr Ho was having snack inside a restaurant on Queen's Road Central in Central, three to four men armed with wooden rods rushed to the restaurant and attacked him.
Sustaining injuries on his head, mouth and nose, he was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital for medical treatment and is now hospitalized in stable condition.
Enquiries revealed that the three or four wanted men, aged between 20 and 30 and 1.7-1.8 metres in height, were wearing caps at the time of the incident.
The spokesman said, "The Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island has taken over the case for investigation with full support from the crime units of the Police Headquarters. "
"Various aspects, including his political activities, his involvement in the party service, his legal work and personal affairs will all be taken into account in our investigation."
"The information provided by Mr Ho and the data and evidence collected at the scene will help police investigation of the case," he said.
Police have set up three hotlines and anyone who has witnessed the case or has information to offer is urged to contact the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island on 2860 7885, 2860 7886 or 2860 7848.
"Hong Kong is a lawful society and no tolerance will be allowed on such violent acts, " the spokesman stressed.
