Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan
Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tsuen Wan today (August 14) in which a 54-year-old man was killed and a 42-year-old man injured.
At about 11.15 am, a dump truck driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along Kowloon-bound Tsing Long Highway. When reaching Ting Kau Bridge, the dump truck reportedly collided with a container trailer travelling along the next lane.
After the impact, the dump truck crashed to the central road divider and bounced back to the road surface. A medium goods vehicle travelling behind attempted to avoid colliding with the vehicles in the front but was rammed by a light goods vehicle following behind.
The 54-year-old dump truck driver was reportedly thrown from the compartment and landed on the opposite carriageway. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 11.37 am.
The 42-year-old container trailer driver was also injured after the incident. He was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding.
