Traffic arrangements for public meeting and parade on July 1

Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a public meeting at Hong Kong Stadium followed by a parade to march off from the Stadium on July 1 (Saturday).

A. Traffic arrangements for public meeting at Hong Kong Stadium

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented in phases in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Stadium before the commencement of a public meeting at Hong Kong Stadium at 7.15 am depending on the crowd and traffic situation:

1. Traffic diversion

- A section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Stadium Path will be re-routed one way southbound;

- A section of Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be re-routed one way northbound;

- Traffic cones will be laid on a section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Link Road to allow two lanes of traffic entering Caroline Hill Road from Hoi Ping Road;

- Link Road downhill vehicular traffic to northbound Caroline Hill Road must turn left onto westbound Leighton Road;

- A section of Hysan Avenue between Leighton Road and Hoi Ping Road will be re-routed one-way eastbound;

- Eastbound Hysan Avenue will be permitted to turn right into Hoi Ping Road;

- Westbound Hysan Avenue between Yun Ping Road and Sunning Road must turn left to Sunning Road;

- Vehicles leaving the Lee Garden Road must turn left to Hysan Avenue;

- If necessary, a section of Lee Garden Road between Foo Ming Street and Lan Fong Road may be re-routed one-way northbound and vehicular traffic at Lan Fong Road must turn right into the section of re-routed Lee Garden Road, and being directed to Percival Street via Foo Ming Street; and

- Vehicular traffic heading for the Hong Kong Stadium may be permitted to turn right from the off-lane of Leighton Road eastbound to Caroline Hill Road.

2. Road closure

- A section of Caroline Hill Road between Cotton Path and Leighton Road/Pennington Street will be closed except for vehicles going to St. Paul's Hospital when the access from Tung Lo Wan Road is closed.

- A section of westbound Hysan Avenue between Hoi Ping Road and Sunning Road.

3. Passenger alighting arrangements

- The drop-off zones for coaches will be:
(a) at the western kerbside of Caroline Hill Road outside South China Athletic Association (southern side);
(b) at the northern kerbside of Cotton Path outside St. Paul's Hospital; and
(c) at the western kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road outside So Kon Po Recreation Ground.

- The drop-off zone for taxis will be at the southern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road at the eastern side of the Stadium main entrance;

- The drop-off zone for private cars will be at the northern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road at the eastern side of the Stadium. Private cars are not allowed to drop off outside the main entrance of the Stadium.

4. The following arrangements will be implemented throughout the event in the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium:

a. Learner drivers will be prohibited to use the following roads from 7 am to 2 pm:
- Westbound Leighton Road;
- Percival Street south of Hennessy Road;
- Caroline Hill Road;
- Link Road;
- Stadium Path;
- Cotton Path;
- Eastern Hospital Road;
- Eastern Hospital Service Road;
- Hysan Avenue; and
- Learner drivers will not be allowed to enter Tung Lo Wan Road from Causeway Road.

b. All on-street car parking spaces on the following roads will be suspended from 6 am to 2 pm:

- Stadium Path;
- A section of northbound Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Cotton Path;
- Eastern Hospital Service Road;
- Yun Ping Road; and
- Hoi Ping Road including four disabled parking spaces.

Motorists are advised to take heed of the instructions given by the Traffic Police at scene. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed away without prior notice.

B. Traffic arrangements for the parade

The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented when the parade starts to march off from the Hong Kong Stadium and until the tail of the parade has entered onto Irving Street.

1. Road Closure

The following roads will be closed from 9.30 am onwards and when as necessary:
- Eastern Hospital Road.
- Cotton Path;
- A section of northbound Caroline Hill Road between Eastern Hospital Road and Leighton Road;
- A section of northbound Tung Lo Wan Road between Eastern Hospital Road and Causeway Road;
- Irving Street;
- A section of westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- Jardine's Bazaar;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Fenwick Street;
- A section of northbound Lee Garden Road between Hennessy Road and Kai Chiu Road;
- Tang Lung Street;
- A section of Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street;
- A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Wanchai Road between Tin Lok Lane and Canal Road West; and
- A section of northbound Johnston Road between Thomson Road and Hennessy Road;

2. Traffic Diversion

The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 9.30 am onwards and when as necessary:

- Traffic along southbound Caroline Hill Road must turn right onto Link Road except emergency vehicles and vehicles heading for car parks of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and South China Athletic Association;
- Traffic along Caroline Hill Road will be prohibited to turn right onto Eastern Hospital Road except for emergency vehicles;
- Traffic along eastbound Caroline Hill Road will be prohibited to enter onto northbound Caroline Road and must make a "U" turn at Stadium Path going back to westbound Caroline Road;
- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road will be directed to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be diverted to the rightmost lane and directed to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be prohibited to turn left to Jardine's Bazaar;
- Traffic along westbound Kai Chiu Road will be prohibited to turn right onto the northbound Lee Garden Hill Road;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street will be directed to turn left to southbound Canal Road East;
- Traffic along Sharp Street West will be prohibited to turn left onto Bowrington Road and Canal Road West;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right onto southbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wanchai Road must turn right onto southbound Morrison
Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road will be prohibited to turn right onto
westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road will be prohibited to turn right onto
westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northhbound Fleming Road will be prohibited to turn left onto westbound Hennessy Road; and
- Traffic along Tin Lok Lane will be prohibited to turn left onto westbound Hennessy
Road.

3. Suspension of Public Light Bus (PLB) Stands

The PLB stands at Jardine's Bazaar and Tang Lung Street are to be suspended from 9.30 am onwards until the parade has passed Irving Street and the area reverts to normal operation on the day.

4. Suspension of bus stops

All bus stops along the closed roads will be suspended from 9.30 am onwards until the parade has passed Irving Street and the area reverts to normal operation on the day.

The bus terminal for route no.5B at Eastern Hospital Road will be suspended from 9.30 am onwards. Incoming buses of route no.5B will therefore be re-routed to westbound Leighton Road and continued their return trip to Kennedy Town.

The bus stop outside 13-17 Tung Lo Wan Road will be suspended and relocated to the Moreton Terrace Bus Terminus.

5. Suspension of Parking Meters and Lay-by

There will be five designated pick-up points for coaches in Wan Chai area to facilitate the dispersal of the parade from Southorn Playground. The parking meters, loading or unloading zones and lay-bys in the vicinity of the designated pick-up points will be suspended.
