Special traffic arrangements for Flag Raising Ceremony
Police will implement special traffic arrangement in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Phase II (HKCEC II) in Wan Chai on July 1 (Saturday) to facilitate the holding of the Flag Raising Ceremony for the Ninth Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
A. Road Closure
The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6.45 am to 11 am:
- Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central and Expo Drive East, except authorised vehicles;
- A section of eastbound Convention Avenue between Expo Drive and Expo Drive East;
- Harbour Drive, except coaches conveying community groups attending the ceremony and vehicles going in and out of the carparks along Harbour Drive; and
-All the lay-bys between the western end of Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus and Fleming Road.
B. Traffic Diversion
The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 6.45 am to 11 am:
-Traffic along westbound Fenwick Pier Street will be prohibited to turn right to Lung King Street;
- Traffic along Lung King Street must turn left to eastbound Fenwick Pier Street;
- Traffic along the first left lane of eastbound Fenwick Pier Street are bound to proceed to HKCEC II;
- Traffic along eastbound of Expo Drive or Expo Drive Central must turn right to southbound Expos Drive East;
-Subject to the prevailing traffic condition, traffic along southbound Expo Drive East will be diverted to turn left to eastbound of Convention Avenue; and
-Subject to the prevailing traffic condition, traffic along northbound Fleming Road will be diverted to turn right to eastbound of Convention Avenue.
C. Suspension of Bus Stops and Taxi Stands
(i)The bus terminus at the northern end of Expo Drive East will be suspended between midnight on June 30 and 11 am on July 1; and the taxi stand on Expo Drive East will also be suspended; and
(ii) The taxi stand on westbound Harbour Road between Harbour Drive and Fleming Road will be supended between 7 am and 10 am on July 1; and the taxi stand between the western end of Wan Chai Ferry Pier bus terminus and Fleming Road will also be suspended.
Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow the instruction of Traffic Police at scene. Vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements will be towed away without prior notice.
