Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day

A total of 170 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 120 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation mounted by traffic officers in Kowloon East Region yesterday (June 20).

The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7 am and 11 pm yesterday and 167 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at the traffic accident blacksites and the potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.

Another 149 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.

A total of 34 pedestrians and drivers were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.

Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.

Statistics revealed that a total of 863 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to May 2006.
