Wounding in Sheung Shui re-classified as murder
Police today (June 9) reclassified a wounding case that occurred in Sheung Shui on June 4 as murder.
At about 3.40 am on June 4, Police received a report that there was a dispute at the Cheung Wah Estate shopping centre, Sheung Shui.
Police sped to the scene and later located a 16-year-old man with serious head injuries lying underneath a footbridge near Fanling KCR Station. He was sent to the North District Hospital and then transferred to the Prince of Wales Hospital where he was certified dead this (June 9) afternoon.
Police arrested a total of eight men, aged 14 - 23, in connection with the case. Two of them, aged 14 and 18, were charged with wounding and appeared in Fanling Magistrates' Courts on June 6. The remaining arrested persons were released on Police bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Tai Po are proceeding.
