Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 36-year-old man was killed and two other persons sustained injuries in Tsuen Wan early this (January 16) morning.
At about 1.15 am, a private car driven by a 36-year-old man with another 36-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman on board was travelling along the middle lane of Tuen Mun Road towards Kowloon. When reaching near Sham Tseng Interchange, it reportedly ran out of control and hit the crash barrier on its left. It then rammed a lamppost and overturned before it came to a halt.
After the impact, the driver and the male passenger were trapped inside the compartment and were rescued by firemen. The male passenger was certified dead at scene by ambulancemen.
Sustaining injuries, the driver and the female passenger were sent to Yan Chai Hospital and were later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.
The driver was subsequently arrested for drink driving. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories South are proceeding.
