The Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) is committed to building strategic partnership with top-notch institutions and police forums, striving to become a leading centre of excellence in police training globally. As the pandemic is getting stable, HKPC has resumed and explored international collaboration to seize overseas training opportunities of good quality for officers of the Force.
A four-member delegation led by Director of HKPC Wong Chung-chun attended the 23rd INTERPOL Police Training Symposium between September 26 and 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This biennial event was co-hosted by INTERPOL and Naif Arab University of Security Sciences (NAUSS) on the theme of “Law Enforcement Training for a Post-Pandemic World: The Lessons of COVID-19 and Looking Ahead”. Director Wong delivered a presentation entitled “Delivering Police Training and Embracing Technology in the Epidemic Challenge”, outlining the development and application of technologies in police training at present and in the future. Superintendent of Learning Technologies Division Chung Chi-chuen attended a breakout session on “Leadership for Digital Transformation” to share his experience in digital policing. The presentation attracted overwhelming response from participants and NAUSS’s scholars, who would like to start comprehensive training collaboration with HKPC.
The symposium is one of the world's leading law enforcement training events, attracting the attendance of senior law enforcement officers and academics from more than 25 countries. It provides a platform for the participants to exchange their views regarding the development and implementation of law enforcement training initiatives during the pandemic. With active participation of the delegates from the member jurisdictions, the symposium was concluded with fruitful results.
