Between March 8 and 9, the Government enforced a “restriction-testing declaration” and issued compulsory testing notice at Tin Yiu House, Shun Tin Estate, Kwun Tong. Platoon 1 of the Police Tactical Unit of Kowloon East (PLN 1 PTU KE) was responsible for performing duties at the restricted area from the morning of March 9 until the end of the operation. In the afternoon of March 9, officers of PLN 1 PTU KE spotted a resident looking worried in the restricted area and later learned that he felt helpless because he was unable to leave the restricted area to pick up the daily necessities ordered online. Upon confirming the resident was tested negative for COVID-19, officers of PLN 1 PTU KE then swiftly arranged the courier to reach the resident. Subsequently, the resident wrote an appreciation letter to praise the officers’ empathy and professionalism.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Force has been sparing no effort in assisting the Government to fight the epidemic. Apart from performing duties in “restricted areas”, officers also serve the public in a professional manner when performing other duties. The professionalism demonstrated by PLN 1 PTU KE not only upheld the positive image of the Force but also boosted the public confidence in the Force.
