‘Mini Mariner On Board’ event
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Marine Police Mentorship Programme (MPMP) and the “Sea Safety Guarding Angels” Scheme of Marine East Division (MEDIV), Marine Region held the “Mini Mariner On Board” event at the base of MEDIV on November 20, 2021.
Trainees from the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) and MPMP mentees joined the event. The participants visited police launches, tried on marine police equipment and took part in rope knotting challenges. Officers of Small Boat Division also introduced their equipment and daily duties to the participants. The event enabled the participants to experience the challenging work environment of the Marine Police and raise their sea safety awareness.

Mr Dennis Luk encouraged the trainees to join the Force and learn from the Force’s spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty.” Senior Supervisor of the Sea Safety Promotion Center of the Planning and Procedure Department of HKRSP
Ms Yeung Tsz-ching also praised the Marine Police for maintaining maritime safety and she said the HKRSP would continue to work hand in hand with the Marine Police to promote sea safety.
Bonding ceremony between Marine Police and HK Sea Cadet Corps
With a view to developing youngsters into upstanding and contributing citizens of society, a bonding ceremony between the Marine Police and the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps (HKSCC) was held on December 10, 2021. Regional Commander of Marine David Jordan and the Chairperson of HKSCC Ms Leung Tze-wai jointly signed a bonding statement, while Deputy Regional Commander of Marine Lau King-lun exchanged plaques with Regional Commanders of HKSCC to recognise the partnership.
Since May 2021, Marine Region has formulated youth development strategies with HKSCC Council members and launched a special attachment project for HKSCC members. A series of youth engagement programmes were organised for HKSCC members in the third and fourth quarters of 2021. The bonding ceremony also kick-started the Marine Guru Programme under the special attachment project, which is a tailor-made maritime training programme. Marine police officers will share maritime knowledge, skills and the latest maritime law enforcement information with HKSCC members. It is also hoped that HKSCC members will develop positive values through their interaction with marine police officers.
