When the longstanding programme “Police Magazine” co-produced by the Force and the Radio Television Hong Kong officially came to an end, the Police Public Relations Branch launched a brand-new programme “OffBeat On Air” on October 29, 2020.
Broadcast live every Thursday at 9pm on the Force’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, “OffBeat On Air” sets out to strengthen real-time interaction between the Police and the public. The programme is uploaded onto the Force’s Weibo page at 10.30pm on the same night to offer the public an additional channel to receive Police messages.
“OffBeat On Air” comprises various segments, such as “Tick Alert Drama Series”, “Force’s 101 Minutes” and “With Faith”. Officers serving at different units and artistes are invited to appear on the programme as guests, to disseminate the latest anti-crime messages to citizens in a lively and engaging manner, enhance their road safety awareness and deepen their understanding of the Force.
October 2021 marked the first anniversary of “OffBeat On Air”. Over the past year, production of the programme had been fraught with challenges, but thanks to the professionalism of the production team, the trust of the senior management of the Force as well as support from members of the public, the programme has overcome many obstacles and garnered tremendous appreciation and accolades from members of the public.
“OffBeat On Air” will continue to seek breakthroughs using even more cutting-edge means to disseminate information about the Force and anti-crime messages, so as to enhance communication between the Police and the public to foster mutual trust.
