The annual Display of the Mace Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Police College on June 24 in memory of the late Sir Shiu-kin Tang. Sir Shiu-kin’s son, Mr Richard Tang, and daughter, Ms Yvonne Tang, were present at the ceremony.

Officiating at the ceremony, Commissioner Tang Ping-keung expressed gratitude to Sir Shiu-kin’s family for their continuous support to the Force and presented a photo album to Mr Richard Tang to express the appreciation. The album contains precious moments of the Tang’s family captured in Display of the Mace Ceremony in previous years and other important Force events. During the ceremony, two silver maces were placed on a stack of traditional drums and a minute of silence followed. The Police Band then played a selection of music to conclude the ceremony.

Donated by Sir Shiu-kin’s family as an emblem of their close relationship with the Force, the two silver maces are used by the Police Band at major official functions.
