Regional Commander of New Territories North Tsang Ching-fo, accompanied by Commander of Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) Kong Man-keung, officiated at the opening ceremony of the New Generation Report Room (NGRR) at Tuen Mun Police Station on January 27. Chief Superintendent of the Planning and Development Branch Lee Nga-lai also attended the ceremony.
The NGRR is equipped with semi-enclosed reporting booths, an electronic queuing system, barrier-free facilities as well as a trauma room for vulnerable witnesses or victims. The NGRR also adopts a number of technological initiatives including the installation of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system in detention cells, an e-cell check and e-alert system and an e-locker system. Moreover, eight 42-inch televisions are available for officers to monitor the security of the police station and detention facilities. Other enhanced facilities include a padded temporary holding area, soundproof interview rooms as well as polycarbonate windows and partitions for security and privacy improvement.
Apart from touring the NGRR, the guests also visited the newly renovated District Operations Room (DOR) of TMDIST. The new DOR is equipped with various new information technology equipment and improvement has been made to the existing facilities so as to enhance operational capability and efficiency. New facilities, such as a video wall and the 4K CCTV system surrounding the police station, provide commanders with more information to assess the situation accurately. In addition, a newly renovated briefing room has improved work environment of officers and increased their sense of belonging.
