The Information Systems Wing (ISW) organised ISW’s Innovative Staff Award Presentation Ceremony on October 21.
To take forward the Force’s Strategic Direction of embracing the use of technology for policing in the digital age, ISW is committed to promoting innovative thinking among its staff in enhancing frontline working efficiency through electronic solutions. Under the award scheme, officers were invited to submit and implement solutions to improve the quality and efficacy of service delivery. The proposals were judged on their creativity, efficiency and attitude. The champion went to the pilot scheme on e-Ticketing. While sharing at the ceremony their experience of thinking outside the box, the winning team discussed their idea of using a mobile application and a portable printer to issue e-tickets instead of giving handwritten fixed penalty notices for illegal parking. The measure streamlines the follow-up procedures apart from enhancing accuracy. The first and second runners-up went to an innovative artistic design and the Mobile Command Kit 2.0 respectively.
During the presentation ceremony, recognition was also given to the winners of ISW’s Logo Design Competition, which sought to rebrand, renew or redesign ISW. ISW aimed to encourage its staff to re-consider its role and positioning, with a view to enhancing their sense of belonging. An online voting was conducted to select the most preferred designs using the QR code. The champion, Ms Chow, a colleague from Information Technology Branch, was invited to the ceremony to share her experience in designing the logo. Her design features a tree with multiple balloons which symbolise various innovative technologies and equipment. The root of the tree is linked with the abbreviation of “ISW”, representing the linkage between ISW and the Force, whereas the growth of the tree symbolises the continuous progress of innovation and technology.
Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching commended colleagues for their creativity and encouraged them to embrace the use of technology for policing in the digital age. Separately, Senior Superintendent of Business Services Bureau Chan Chi-yung shared with participants the progress of different e-policing initiatives and exchanged opinions with attendees.
