Albeit physical distancing due to the pandemic, the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) continues to forge closer partnership with training partners around the globe via international and regional platforms.

Between November 2 and 5, the HKPC attended a virtual INTERPOL Police Training Symposium. The biennial symposium provides a platform for senior law enforcement officers and academia from INTERPOL member countries and jurisdictions to exchange insights and best practices on law enforcement training and capacity building initiatives.

With the theme of “Professional Policing: Education for the future” this year, the symposium was attended by some 300 participants from 92 countries and jurisdictions. Director of the HKPC Cheung Ching was invited to share the HKPC’s success in harnessing Quality Assurance Mechanism and cutting-edge technology in devising training initiatives, such as “Detective Boulevard”, “Driving Simulator”, “Virtual Reality Scene” and “Integrity Management Trail”, to augment training experience of Force trainees. Deputy Director 2 of the HKPC Ip Che-man attended a panel discussion for Asia and South Pacific Region to share the HKPC’s strategies in using virtual reality technology in police training.

In late November, the HKPC will attend another virtual meeting organised by the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia to share the Force’s training experience with participants from 14 countries in Asia Pacific.
