The Communications Branch (COMMS) celebrated the opening of its Information and Communications Network Management Centre (ICNMC fallback site) cum COMMS Operations Room on March 28 with Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Hui Chun-tak and Chief Telecommunications Engineer Mr Wong Chun-kau as officiating guests.

The fallback site elevates the Information Systems Wing's capability in responding to major incidents and delivering enhanced business continuity services to users of the Force's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) should any issues occur to the main network centre. In parallel, the COMMS Operations Room can be activated quickly to support major operations and events by remotely reprogramming network resources according to operational needs. In a nutshell, the new fallback facilities have optimised the effectiveness of the communication system to provide better and reliable ICT services to the Force.

On the other hand, the fallback site can monitor the performance of the Third Generation Command and Control Communications System.

The fallback site is located on the 24th floor of the Arsenal House with basic facilities to handle daily enquiries and requests for repair services on ICT by formations. For any ICT enquiries or repair services, the ICNMC can be contacted on 2860-3444, via fax on 2529-8294, POINT, or email at isw-helpdesk@police.gov.hk.
