2008-07-05 20:03 Police are investigating a traffic accident in Wanchai this morning (July 5) in which a 39-year-old man was killed. At about 10.47am, a private car driven by a 31-year-old man lost control and hit a bollard and a private car driven by a 42-year-old man at the junction of Hung Hing Road and Marsh Road. The 31-year-old driver failed to stop after the accident and continue to drive his vehicle towards Island Eastern Corridor east bound. Opposite to Provident Centre, the vehicle lost control and hit the railings and a motorcycle driven by a 39-year-old man. The motorcyclist sustained serious head injuries and was certified dead at scene. The 31-year-old private car driver sustained minor injuries and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. He was later arrested for drink driving, dangerous driving, dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after a traffic accident and failing to report after a traffic accident. He is detained for further enquiries. Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
