Tourism Closed Area Permit – Individual
- Applicants can apply online through the HKPF Online Applications Platform.
- Required documents include the Applicant's identification documents and other supporting documents required by the police (if applicable).
- Applications should be submitted at least 3 working days before the intended visit date (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays).
- Tourists can stay in the Sha Tau Kok Frontier Closed Area from 7 am to 9 pm daily.
- Applicants can download the approved permits from the HKPF Online Applications Platform, and present the electronic permit file or print out the permit for police officers to check before granting access.
- The applicant can authorize others to submit the application and download the electronic permit.
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old; visitors under the age of 18 must have obtained the parental consent.
- The maximum number of applicants per form is 12.
- Application for Closed Area Permit is free of charge.

Tourism Closed Area Permit – Group
- Applicants can apply online through the HKPF Online Applications Platform.
- Required documents include the Applicant's identification documents and other supporting documents required by the police (if applicable).
- Applications should be submitted at least 3 working days before the intended visit date (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays).
- Group tours could apply for Closed Road Permits (CRP) for tourism purpose.
- Tour guide(s) and driver(s) need to process valid closed area permit for access.
- The maximum number of applicants per form is 50 applicants and three vehicles.
- Application for Closed Area Permit/ Closed Road Permit is free of charge.

- Applicants can apply for Closed Area Permit / Closed Road Permit online via the HKPF Online Applications Platform.
- At least three full working days are required for processing (depending on the restricted area location and number of permits) (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
- After the application is approved, applicants can download the electronic closed area permits from the HKPF Online Applications Platform. Permit holders can present the PDF file(s) / or printed copy of electronic closed area permit(s) to the inspection personnel for inspection when entering the closed area.
- The maximum numbers of applicants and vehicles per form are 30 and 20 respectively.
- Closed Area Permits / Closed Road Permits are issued free of charge.

Permit holders can present the PDF file(s) / or printed copy of electronic closed area permit(s) to the inspection personnel for inspection when entering the closed area.

- It is required to upload and submit a letter of guarantee from a sponsor (if applicable).
- At least three full working days are required for processing (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
- After the application is approved, applicants can download the electronic closed area permits from the HKPF Online Applications Platform. Permit holders can present the PDF file(s) / or printed copy of electronic closed area permit(s) to the inspection personnel for inspection when entering the closed area.

Closed Road Permit Application for Resident
- Only resident living in Closed Area can apply for a Closed Road Permit for private use.
- Authorised driver must be a resident in Closed Area.
- At least three full working days are required for processing (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
- After the application is approved, applicants can download the electronic closed area permits from the HKPF Online Applications Platform. Permit holders can present the PDF file(s) / or printed copy of electronic closed area permit(s) to the inspection personnel for inspection when entering the closed area.
- Closed Road Permits are issued free of charge.

Closed Area Permit / Closed Road Permit Application for Government Personnel
- Government personnel can apply for closed area permit / closed road permit online via a Government Internal Portal.
- At least 12 working days (excluding Saturday, Sunday and general holiday) are required for processing new applications; and at least six weeks are required for renew applications.
- After the application is approved, applicants can download the electronic closed area permits from the HKPF Online Applications Platform. Permit holders can present the PDF file(s) / or printed copy of electronic closed area permit(s) to the inspection personnel for inspection when entering the closed area.
