The "Join Hands for Road Safety cum Sau Mau Ping Road Safety Town Open Day" was jointly organised by the Road Safety Office of Traffic Kowloon East (T KE), the Road Safety Council (RSC) and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) on January 19. The event aimed to raise road safety awareness of road users, especially children and elderly.
Officiating at the ceremony were Acting Regional Commander of Kowloon East James Betts, Senior Superintendent (T KE) Yu Wai-leung, Chairperson of the Road Safety Campaign Committee of the RSC Ms Ma Ka-wai, Kowloon East Regional Commander of the HKRSP Mr Chu Chi-ming, Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Kwun Tong District Council Ms So Lai-chun and Sau Mau Ping District Commander of the HKRSP Ms Lee Shuk-woon.
The ceremony was kicked off with a magic performance by Po Leung Kuk Vicwood K T Chong Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, followed by a drama and singing performance by two kindergartens. A highlight of the day was children trying on traffic police uniforms for photo taking with mini police motorcycles as well as riding tricycles around the road safety town. Over 200 participants attended the ceremony.
