Most illegal debt collection activities occurred in residential buildings and involved criminal offences, including splashing of paint or gluing keyholes, causing serious disturbances to members of the public. To prevent illegal debt collection activities, Police would like to make an appeal to the public regarding the following issues :
- Building security personnel should be alert and prevent unauthorised or suspicious persons from entering the building;
- Security personnel should maintain visitor registration records;
- Owners’ corporations or management companies should install CCTV cameras at building entrances / exits and remind security personnel to remain vigilant;
- Building residents should be alert to suspicious persons inside the building and request for assistance from security personnel or call the Police when necessary.
