Fatal traffic accident in Western district

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western district today (December 2) in which a man was killed.

About 12.35pm, a tram being driven by a 27-year-old man was travelling along Des Voeux Road West towards Kennedy Town. At the junction with Centre Street, the tram hit a 56-year-old male pedestrian.

The injured man was taken to Queen Mary Hospital for medical treatment. He was later certified dead at 2.56pm.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are under way.
