Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island
Police officers issued a total of 415 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 10 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.
The operation concluded at 7 pm today (November 20) and a total of 190 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.
A total of 292 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 123 for other traffic offences.
Nineteen pedestrians and 217 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.
Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety were also distributed to road users.
Statistics revealed that a total of 2665 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to October this year.
Of them, 53.9 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
