Fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau
Police are investigating a traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau this morning (November 10) in which a 70-year-old taxi driver was killed.
About 12.40am, a bus and a tow truck being driven by a 39-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were travelling along the first lane and the second lane respectively on the slip road of Fanling Highway towards Lok Ma Chau Interchange Yuen Long bound.
A taxi being driven by the 70-year-old travelling along the first lane of Fanling Highway reportedly overtook from the left to the second lane of the slip road and hit the tow truck. The taxi then crashed into the railings, hit by the bus and the driver was being thrown out of the taxi. The bus then subsequently hit the tow truck.
The taxi driver was certified dead by the ambulancemen at the scene.
Meanwhile, the drivers of the bus and the tow truck as well as a 25-year-old male passenger on board the tow truck, also sustained injuries and were sent to the North District Hospital for medical treatment.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are under way.
