Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day

A total of 155 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 180 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (October 15).

The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7 am and 11 pm yesterday and 170 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at the traffic accident blacksites and the potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.

Another 139 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.

A total of 189 pedestrians and 68 drivers were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.

Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.

Statistics revealed that a total of 1,686 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to September 2007.
