Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan
Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan today (October 5) in which a woman was killed and two men were injured.
About 4.40pm, a motorcycle and a private car were travelling along Tai Tam Road towards Chai Wan Road in sequence. At the junction with Chai Wan Road, the private car hit the motorcycle. The 24-year-old male motorcyclist and the 26-year-old female passenger fell on the ground and got injured.
The subject private car then rammed the railings in the middle of the road. A 44-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the road was hit by the damaged railings. After the incident, the private car driver and his two passengers left the scene.
The three injured persons were taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for medical treatment. The woman who sustained head injuries was later certified dead at 8.40pm.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are under way.
