Man died in traffic accident in Western

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 45-year-old man was killed on Sassoon Road in Western this afternoon (August 11).

Shortly before 12.40 pm, a public light bus driven by a 41-year-old man was travelling along Sassoon Road downhill. While reaching outside 29 Sassoon Road, it reportedly lost control and rammed into a traffic sign which bent and hit the 45-year-old man who was standing on the pavement.

Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 1.10 pm.

The Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island will take over the case for investigation.
