Appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Sai Kung

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which an 18-year-old man was injured in Sai Kung on August 6 and died at hospital the next day.

At about 7.30 pm on August 6, a public light bus driven by a 58-year-old man was travelling along Hiram's Highway towards Sai Kung. It reportedly knocked down an 18-year-old man who was standing at the central dividing lines waiting to cross the road near Tai Chung Hau Village.

After the impact, the man was bounced to the opposite lane and was hit by a private car driven by a 65-year-old man. He sustained injuries and laid on the ground at the central dividing lines. Shortly after a minute, another private car driven by a 27-year-old man approached the scene towards Sai Kung and rolled over the injured man. He was trapped under the car and was rescued by firemen.

He was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for medical treatment and was certified dead at 00.56 am on the next day (August 7).

The case has been taken over by the Special Investigation Team of Kowloon East for investigation.
