Police appeal for witnesses on fatal accident
Police are looking for witnesses of a traffic accident occurred on August 2 inside Hung Hom Cross Harbour Tunnel in which a 21-year-old man was seriously injured and died four days later on August 6.
At about 1.30 am on August 2, a private car was travelling towards Hong Kong Island, while a public light bus was travelling on the opposite lane towards Kowloon in the northbound tube of Cross Harbour Tunnel. Upon approaching the end of the tube, the private car reportedly drove onto the opposite lane and had a head-on collision with the public light bus, leaving both drivers and 14 passengers of the public light bus injured.
Sustained serious injuries, the 21-year-old private car driver was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was certified dead at 18.33 hours yesterday (August 6).
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
