Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 56-year-old man was killed in Tsuen Wan last (June 26) night.
At about 10.25 pm, a prviate car driven by a 56-year-old man and a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 23-year-old man had a minor collision on Cheung Pei Shan Road after passing the toll plaza of Shing Mun Tunnel towards Tsuen Wan. Both drivers of the cars alighted for negotiation. During the time, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 25-year-old man approached and rammed the two cars.
After the impact, six men and 12 women aged between 21 and 62 were injured. Among them, 13 were passengers of the PLB, three were the driver and passengers of the LGV and two were the driver and passenger of the private car. All of them rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital and Yan Chai Hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the private car was certified dead at 11.14 pm on arrival at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Police arrested the 25-year-old driver of the PLB for dangerous driving causing death.
The case will be taken over by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories South for investigation.
