Fatal crash in North Point
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which an 87-year-old woman was killed in North Point this afternoon (March 30).
At around 3.45 pm, the 87-year-old woman alighted from a tram travelling along eastbound King's Road at the station near the Water Services Department Hong Kong Regional Building. When she was about to cross the road, she was reportedly knocked down by another tram pulling over from behind.
After the impact, the woman was trapped underneath the tram. She lost consciousness when she was rescued by the firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, she was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 4.12 pm.
Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
