Fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 42-year-old man was killed and 13 persons injured this morning (February 17) in Yuen Long.
Shortly after 9.10am, a bus driven by a 53-year-old man was travelling along the first lane of Tsing Long Highway Tsuen Wan bound. While reaching near the pay toll of Tai Lam Tunnel, it swerved to the second lane and reported hit the rear part of a container truck in front driven by a 58-year-old man on the first lane.
After the impact, a male passenger and a female passenger were thrown out of the bus from the upper deck. They were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital where the 42-year-old male passenger was certified dead at 9.54am.
A total of seven men and six women aged between 21 and 71, were also injured. Among them, five women and two men aged between 21 and 61, including the female passenger who was thrown out of the bus were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital; while the other five men and one woman aged between 23 and 71 including the bus driver were sent to North District Hospital for medical treatment.
Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are proceeding.
