Traffic arrangements for sports event in Happy Valley

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Happy Valley today (February 14) to facilitate the public to attend a sports event at the Hong Kong Stadium.

A. Traffic diversions (at the commencement of the event)

The following road diversions will be implemented around 6.30 pm today when large crowds start to arrive:

(1)A section of Caroline Hill Road between Link Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be routed one-way southbound;

(2) A section of Caroline Hill Road between Eastern Hospital Road and Cotton Path will be routed one-way northbound;

(3)A section of Eastern Hospital Road between Caroline Hill Road and Cotton Path will be routed one-way northbound. Vehicular access to St. Paul's Hospital carpark from Tung Lo Wan Road will however be maintained;

(4)Traffic flow on Link Road remains normal, except that downhill traffic will not be allowed to turn right into Caroline Hill Road;

(5)Should the situation warrant, downhill traffic on Link Road will not be allowed to turn right into eastbound Leighton Road;

(6)Westbound vehicular traffic on Hysan Avenue will be diverted to turn left into eastbound Leighton Road only;

(7)Southbound vehicular traffic on Sun Wui Road will be diverted to turn left into eastbound Leighton Road only;

(8)Stadium Path and the unnamed service road around the stadium will be closed to all vehicular traffic; and

(9)The section of Leighton Road between Hysan Avenue and Caroline Hill Road (West) will be coned off to allow two lanes of traffic in an eastbound direction.

B.Traffic diversions (on conclusion of the event)

The following road diversions will be implemented around 9.05 pm today for the dispersal of crowds:

(1)A section of Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Leighton Road will be closed to all traffic;

(2)A section of Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be closed to all traffic;

(3) A section of Link Road between Caroline Hill Road and Broadwood Road will be closed to traffic;

(4)Only coaches with permits will be allowed to enter the stadium proximity via southbound Caroline Hill Road for stacking purpose. In addition, Eastern Hospital Road and Eastern Hospital Service Road near Buddhist Wong Fung Ling College will also be used as stacking zones;

(5)Vehicles will be banned from entering Caroline Hill Road for Link Road at Leighton Road/Caroline Hill Road;

(6)On completion of all the events, a section of Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Leighton Road, and a section of Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road may be closed to vehicular traffic should the situation so warrant;

(7) Leighton Road may be closed when westbound traffic from Causeway Road will be re-routed via Irving Street, and eastbound traffic from Morrison Hill Road will be diverted via Canal Road West and Wong Nai Chung Road; and

(8)A section of Link Road between Caroline Hill Road and Broadwood Road will be closed to all traffic.

C. Parking Spaces

In addition, all on-street metered car parking spaces in the following path/roads will be suspended between 4 pm and 11 pm today:

(1) Sun Wui Road - During the period of the suspension, public light buses may be permitted to wait thereat under the direction given by Police officers on site;

(2) Stadium Path;

(3) A section of southbound Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Leighton Road/Pennington Street; and

(4) Eastern Hospital Service Road.

Any vehicles found illegally parked in the area will be towed away without prior notice.
